Hi Handee9 - you may want to try a 2x2 painted cleat on the wall instead of a 1x2. The 2x2 enables you to screw vertically through the bottom of it into the bottom of the desk. (make sure your screw length won't protrude through the top of course :) When the 2x nears the front edge of the counter,

The room is 12' wide. The center cabinet is 3' wide and the knee spaces on either side are 4'-6" wide. The tabletop is 30" deep and the base cabinet is only 24" deep
angle it back at a 45*. You would still screw horizontally through the 2x2 into the wall studs as Da Vinci suggested. As for the best way to attach the cabinetry to the counter, that is done in a similar way, you screw vertically through the top of the cabinet into the substrate of the counter,

The mantel is 71" L x 6" H x 10" D. It's comprised of 12 boards (1x6). Justin Real at Real Industrial Edge Furniture can better explain the process of staining - you might want to contact him on
It's custom made by Real Industrial Edge Furniture - this particular mantel is comprised of twelve (12) 1x6 pine boards, which were then glued together and then stained. The mantel is fastened to framing behind the mantel using rebar.
that I've found it hard to take stain well. This turned out SO nice...I was wondering if pine was selected for any particular reason. Finally, are the 12 boards stacked on top of one another to form a solid, almost beam? Thank you very much for any assistance!
The contractor I used, Real Industrial Furniture, most likely glued these 12 pine boards together and then stained them. However you can barely tell these are separate boards - it looks like one big piece.

Thinking about black beadboard on wall to chair rail, carrara subway 3x6 above to ceiling. I don't see any bathrooms with this "reverse" style. Bad idea?
I plan to use the same 3x6 tile right down to where it meets the 12x12 tile on the floor. I have seen this in hotels with the same tile being used with just grout/caulk line in between (my tile manufacturer does not have a baseboard floor tile so will need to use the same 3x6 wall tile).
subway tiles for example 3x6" starting from $7.00SF and up to only $8.00SF for the 6x12". Incredible Italian marble for a fraction of the cost you would pay at any showroom. The showrooms as mentioned above sell by "THE PIECE" that is 8 pieces for one square foot of 3x6" Subway Tile. That at $9
