I'm wondering if I can use a coffered ceiling / box beams to hide an I-beam and duct work.
other jobs. The duct work can be trickier if it's not on the perimeter of the room. But you can combine soffits @ cabinets and integrate them with beams as needed. I would just find someone skilled to work with to figure this out. Best of luck!

getting faux beams, some people do an awesome job using wood, some make substandard beams with very visible seams. At http://woodlandbeam.com/box-beams we spent a very long time and a decent amount of wood and money to get the faux beam look perfected -
