wanting to do something similar to my home which has existing porch. We poured cement floor below and will be doing stonework aswell on outside. My question is once we screen in porch how will I insure that water will not get in the room below and how
underneath and have cinderblock walls that we will be putting stone on....we always figured we would use this space at some point. Love all of your design ideas.

few pebbles to a tray does not make a room tropical. The only reason this room is classified that way is that it is in a home in Hawaii. I have seen English Country style in homes here.

In a home on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas, two wings are connected by a long open breezeway. Again, the pool occupies the courtyard, and a visual axis leads the eye outward into a grove of lovely live oaks, which themselves help complete the overall composition. I am particularly drawn to the way asymmetry
trees; together they draw your attention to the vast sky. The negative spaces — sky, trees and distant hills — are as important as the positive ones — home, pool and breezeway.
