options you've presented are actually wood. If you're looking to do a white enameled kitchen and want to use actual wood, I would use Poplar. MDF, Melamine, or PVC would all be cheaper options. Of those three, we would recommend MDF.

you can do a search for a Capiz pendant - a bunch of companies make them.
Sorry but I am not familiar with the California market for custom millwork - my guess is that you could find a good carpenter to do this for about $5k.

the floor? Is the baseboard easily removable? Hubby is building a cabinet similar and we can't decide whether to take the doors down to the floor or do them as you have done or put the unit on a raised floor with the baseboard in front.
