Can you tell me how this brick was laid, specifically the mortar?
Was the mortar smeared or did the brick come that way? Thanks
been told white mortar/sand will mold and turn gray over time, true?
Brick was laid this way the mortar was specifically smeared on the brick, although its looks easy it takes a god mason to pull this off. We refer to this a sloppy mortar. FYI the mortar used has a base of portland cement to get that color, the effect is not
white mortar so there are no grey's in it. I have lived in my personal home for 11 years it is like the picture and is perfect to this day. Most builder will try to talk you out of white or Buff because the labor and materials are more costly and difficult to apply. I use White or Buff mortar on 100%

That stone is called Chopped Granbury, from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in Texas. It was laid in a thick mortar joint with a slight 'smear' to try and make it look old. Hope that helps.
