simple, yet elegant bluestone terrace bordered by perennials and a low stonewall, creates a space for entertaining on the south side of the house. Large trees of 8" and 10" caliper were planted to add a feeling of maturity to the landscape while creating a sense of intimate scale. Photo Credit: Westphalen

Help with building around our oak tree.
how do I build like this....won't it hurt the tree roots? We have a giant oak tree 18 feet behind our home. It is the only direction we can build. We have been told to cut it down.:((((. It's
It's has been 5 years. We still haven't built our addition or cut it down. Please, any construction advice would be helpful. Id your tree still alive? They told us ours would slowly die.
executed. If a tree has anything built over the root system it must have a way for ample water to reach the roots, otherwise it will die. There is a tree in a parking lot surrounded by cement and gravel which is slowing dueling because there is not adequate ground exposed for the tree to be able to suck

Hello! I love the trees, what are they? Do you know of a similiar tree that would do well in Central Florida? Thanks, Noel
what kind are those tree.
what are the names of the trees both flowering and background? Hedges?
Are those cherry trees durning blossom time??
have answered, but it was sometime ago. The four trees in the knott garden are Malus sargentini (crab apples) The trees behind are European hornbeams. Love the shape of these, but they do get large.
love the style and balance, what kind of trees are those with the white flowers?

stately grid of white flowering trees lends timeless appeal to a formal garden parterre centered around a single blue focal point. The look is pure and fresh, crisp and deliberately restrained — elegance redefined.

How long do you think the tree trunk will last before it succumbs to rot? I have a huge tree tree that is coming down this coming summer (too close to house) and thought about doing something
All plants are wonderful. . . in their right place. No harm done by this Wisteria, being planted around an old Oak tree stump.
Love the tree house/gazebo with the flowers, perfect
Great idea for a dead tree
this "feels"... a tree house should feel closer to nature, not a miniture version of a real house
Giant tree stump used as floor for tree house, wisteria planted beside it
This floral fort wins the Best Use of an Old Tree Stump award. While I wouldn't recommend this wisteria-draped getaway for anyone allergic to any kind of stings, it could be a great

Love the back tree hedge. What kind of tree is it?
What is the name of the trees please?
What type of tree are the ones along the back wall???
Will the ficus grow in America hardiness zone 8b/9? I live in a NW Houston, TX suburb. I am looking for privacy hedge/tree that will grow at least 8 to 9 feet, over a 6 foot fence, in the rear of the yard.
ficus "tree-look" instead of hedge w/landscape lighting
8. Use pleached trees or tall, thin plants Pleached trees (where the foliage is trimmed to form a hedge) are ideal for small gardens as they let in light above and allow space for planting below. The pleached trees used here are the lush and dense Ficus microcarpa ‘Hillii‘. To their right is a planting

I'm looking for a chi-chi Ginko Tree in the California Bay Area (San Jose) - are there any local dealers?
How did this 80' tall tree get into a slide show on
what type of tree is this? Im looking for a tree to put to the house.
We love Gingko trees and have used several in the landscaping of our store in Mountain View. Summerwinds Nursery carries Gingko's but they are relatively small and it takes some time for the tree to get established and start gaining significant height. We have also used Capitol Wholesale
Wholesale Nursery in San Jose. This should be a fairly easy tree to find and grow. Enjoy!
