I'm putting a 21" deep tub in a condo and the plumber says it will end up being about 36" to 37" high, so we are building a 12" step. I'm concerned about the aesthetic of the whole thing. The counters of the sinks are 36" high.

am not Japanese, but I have spent some time in Japan, and I love o-furo. In Japan, the water is not changed for each user. Since you enter the bath clean, the water is used for soaking, not for cleaning, so it does not really get dirty. And, more often than not, you are soaking with others--taking a bath
