I'm going to gut and redo my kitchen. It will be very long and skinny after I add the former dining room space. How can I incorporate an island?
Sounds tough, what dimensions are the room? we try to have as a minimum 900mm around a island (doorway size) but prefer to have much more room where possible. This adds to the feeling of space.

This island home is set on a dramatic site overlooking the Straits of Juan de Fuca. The owners wanted a substantial addition to a 150-square foot, one-room cabin. The new one-story home is carefully connected to the waterfront views, nestled low into the rocky site, and surrounded by large fir and pine
wind shaped pine, which becomes the focal point of the connection between indoors and outdoors. This main room features fir ceilings and a twenty-foot long bay window that enhances the engagement of the inside space to the view.
