Thank you! I really like the look with the mesquite top and I hope I can replicate it.
part of the finishing process. The painted finish has a rub through and distress to mimic the patina of reclaimed material. The island counter-top is mesquite which is a very gnarly material and has a ridiculous amount of character. I have attached another kitchen we did with a red vinyl base coat finish
Mesquite may be an option for the bar top... although possibly expensive

The balusters are 1/2" x 1/2" square steel pickets. They support a 1 1/2" x 3/8" steel railing, which is capped with 2" x 3" or 4" mesquite (not sure which dimension was ultimately used). Not sure what you mean by the wall rail, but a similar treatment was used throughout.

Mesquite, one of the hardest woods in the world, is local in Texas and makes gorgeous, durable flooring. The homeowners have a large dog, so strong floors were a must. "Mesquite has a whole lot of character," says Lind. "There's a beautiful glow. It's the first thing people notice when they enter this
this house." But it's the staircase that stops guests in their tracks. Steel steps are wrapped in mesquite boxes. The stair wall is made of MDF panels whose grain pattern gives the impression of leather. "It's always great when you can take an inexpensive, almost industrial material and make it look expensive

I would not recommend putting a mesquite tree that close to the pool. It doesn't really matter what tree you put there it will always be "the messiest tree in the garden" This tree was already here and the client has a full time gardening crew on staff to maintain the property so she wanted to keep it
Mesquite is ok so close to a pool?

Modern Kitchen
A mesquite countertop adds warmth to the Breakfast bar.
counters. modern woodsy feel. Check out bar construction: "The deepest overhang is 15". The mesquite top is reinforced underneath with a 3/4" thick underlayment of baltic birch plywood. This was inset into the mesquite, for a total thickness of 1 1/4". It is very solid. The cherry "skirt" around the edge

Native Texas Mesquite
This random width Texas Mesquite was sanded and hand scraped onsite to get a beautiful even feel. The treads on the stairs were made the same way so as to match perfectly.
Was any color added to the finishing stain on the mesquite? Thx!
Mesquite does stain well in a dark finish. It will always have a red undertone and some dark colors look better that others. Try something with a slight green undertone and it will help cancel some of the red out.
