Designed by Stefan Laport the BUGA - Garden focuses on the various societies of the Roman Empire and Germania.
A strict grid on the Roman side face curved shapes with grasses on the Germanic side. In this way the differences between the two social systems come to expression.
In the foreground we see the Germanic side with Panicum 'Northwind'. In the background the Roman side with the basic principles of Cardo and Decumanus is recognizeable.
This contemporary garden artwork with the theme "Roman and Limes" could be seen at the National Garden Show Koblenz 2011 in the main ditch of the fortress Ehrenbreitstein.

Stefan Laport interprets in this BUGA installation entitled "The Romans and the Limes" the Roman side as an ordered strict grid. The economically and culturally permeable Limes is shown as a footpath. On the right side the Germanic forests border on with interspersed clearings.
Curved shapes with light and dark contrast. On the bright areas the tulips stand out as needles. The grasses in the dark areas are still in hibernation.
Stefan Laport staged a grid of red tulips comparable to an advancing Roman phalanx on the BUGA 2011.
