River rocks come for rivers, and so here in the San Francisco Bay Area, this house is in Menlo Park, the rocks came from a local stone supplier (Lingso) and probably came from the California Sierras.

This is what I think of when I think of river rock. I would do this in our dry creek bed. Different sizes is key, personally.
