love the stonewall! What kind of stone is this?
what is the name and color of this stone
What steps did you take to ensure that the retaining wall stays in place since these are stacked stones?
my knowledge, a tight fitting stacked rock wall wall with angular stone has the added advantage of friction working for it. The wall would begin below grade to provide added support. Good compaction of the soil behind the wall is essential.

Love this wall and tiered look
Just an example of how to do a retaining wall when the landscape varies in height.
Perhaps this example isn't a true ha-ha; most would consider it a retaining wall. But it does give us a good idea how the true ha-ha works; from the lower side, the wall ceates a secure barrier unseen from the open garden above. To install any feature like this is labor

the SlopeBuild a retaining wall. A retaining wall is an obvious solution and one that makes sense if you need a level terrace for entertaining or playing sports. Its impact on the land is significant, since it involves reshaping the land. Retaining walls are generally made of stone, timber, concrete
concrete blocks or poured concrete. A wall higher than 18 inches will likely need to be backfilled with gravel and a French drain to relieve pressure caused by water buildup. Be sure to check your local guidelines for wall height, as you may need to install a railing for safety.
What backing was used behind the stones, if any?
Our dry-laid natural stone retaining wall is being "reorganized". The mesh fabric backing the stones needs to be replaced. Can you advise a backing material? Thank you in advance for your response
look of a dry stack wall and have some retaining properties, we typically start by pouring a concrete footing. We then begin stacking the stone, as the wall rises we pour a solid concrete wall behind the stack stone reinforced with re-bar, grouting back of stones into new concrete wall. This will lock
lock the stones into place and at the same time achieve the dry stack look. Hope this helps with your wall.

What type of stone is this?
Hello, Can you please tell me what type of stone was used in your retaining wall and steps? They are beautiful.
It was a while ago and every supplier has its own name for the stone they supply. About half was on the propoerty alreay in a large pile. If I remember there was some acadian granite, foxfield stone, and a grey mica schist.
