What are the dimensions of this hood and is it a custom made hood or could it be purchased from somewhere? What is an estimated cost of what a hood like this might cost. I think this hood gives so much character to the whole kitchen.
d for a trim carpenter to create something similar for you. It is simply built around a "Vent A Hood" unit. I am not sure about price.
more of a limestone type look. I noticed that you used a Jura limestone in one of your photos. Would you recommend it for kitchen and bath countertops with an active family?
It is a 42" wide custom hood, made from reclaimed wood to match some beams in the adjacent
can have a bit more subdued color. I don't know if hiding the pattern is a "pro," but the leathered or honed granite will be softer and more varied to the touch than a standard polish.

filter is a crucial culprit in creating fan noise. The company Vent-a-Hood has integrated a patented system — Magic Lung — that relies on centrifugal action rather than filters. Each of the units has a 300 CFM rating and can be combined to achieve the correct rating for your home.

this a counter cooktop with a built in oven below it?
done in a remote rainforest area in the tropics and to me a lighted cabinet up and down is a MUST simply (for me) to make sure there are no unexpected slithering guests lurking inside! The polypropilene would have been wonderful but unattainable and costly to order besides everything here is constructed
with a proprietary construction and an innovative non-hinge. easily recyclable. The lighting will be changed to halogen this summer. We have a switch to turn off the lights in the cabinets, but use an electric motion sensor to turn off the lights if there is no activity in the kitchen. You can see

Is the hood Blue Star also? If not, would you please share the make, it is very complimentary.
It is a Vent a Hood.
I had bookmarked or pinned the stencils from a photo of another floor like this. I used Photoshop to cut/distort into a flat shape. Then scaled it up / had it printed at Fed Ex/Kinkos on their plotter and
painted at a local collision center with auto paint in the RAL color of the stove. It is durable and has held up quite well.
My son has a glass back splash waiting to be installed. He is struggling with the type of paint he can use on the back of it. He wonders if it has to be heat resistance to a certain

We used the same color as the walls for the stencils - Archival by C2 after the first two coats of Swedish finish had been applied to the floors and then another coat was

makes the hood? Thanks!! :-)
It is a Kohler piece; Evoke - a really fun piece.
Vent-a-Hood makes this great looking hood.
We used a clear finish on the walnut, no colored stain. The granite is Iron Red. Much success with you project, Krista Schwartz
I'd suggest a Google search for the nearest distributor of Tech Lighting or order from the web from a reputable company; Lumens would be one

I really love the flexibilty of this tile line, Villa Mosaics. The local representation in the Twin Cites is Tile x Design. This tile is clear glass that has the color on the backside; I used white. The shape is a 1"x2" mini brick
stacked for a more modern feel. I hope you like the tile as much as my clients do!

remodel of a mid century modern home was focused on improving the flow and functionality of the kitchen while respecting the existing design style. We removed the wall separating the living area from the kitchen and installed recycled chalkboard countertops on some great new cabinets by Kerf design. New aluminum
makes a terrazzo patterned rubber flooring for kitchens, but I cannot find a US distributor. Can you help me figure out where to get the flooring shown here? Love this kitchen by the way.
What do you use in the seams of the counter ? How thick is your slate? Can a slate front
slate as a molding or some kind of edge support. What is it? I love this by the way.
it was a chalkboard and not a honed piece of stone, there are some variations in the seam. You could glue a piece to the edge but I would be hesitant about its long term performance without some kind of mechanical fastener.

Although it's a little awkward, the post at the end of the island keeps the structure sturdy. When it came to materials, the team was careful to help the new blend seamlessly with the old. Pine cabinetry and granite countertops were given slight contemporary touches to help them fit with the modern stainless
