I am fascinated with the detail over the dining area window. Is that a metal detail, or perhaps part of a curtaining system? I went on the Ogawa Fisher Architects website hoping for more views of this, but found nothing.

The windows pictured here are wood, however we have used Marvin Windows in many of our homes. They have an Integrity line made from a fiberglass material that significantly outperforms vinyl and roll-form aluminum. Might be a good option to look into.
Chalk wall vinyl is an easy way to get this look with the ease of removing later. It won't harm the surface so you can apply to the wall, cabinet or board (I prefer the the smoothest surface to write on) and they come in many shapes and sizes too. Definitely use chalk markers so that you avoid the dust
