Are the floor joists glued together for thick countertop? Has it split at all? How long have you had it? Love!
May I ask what you used to seal the wood top of the island with? I like the low sheen finish it is beautiful.
I love the whole piece. Where did the base with the drawers come from?
What kind of floors are these? Thanks
hadn't realised that you've used old floor joists for the countertop! We've just salvaged pine floorboards in our 200yo house that are a good 2" x 10" x 12' or so, and I'm thinking I could copy your idea: what did you do to clean your boards up? Scrub with soap and water? Sand-blast? Did you re-plane them
You can have a wood counter top with a sink if you have the top finished with Waterlox Tung Oil finish. If you go to http://www.craft-art.com/ you can see all their gorgeous tops and read more about how wood counter tops definitely can be waterproof and stain resistant
