Isn't glass made by heating it? If so, then heat by the stove shouldn't crack the glass. I would be more worried about the upkeep of glass and grease!

This was done by the builder. You can talk with a good audio visual company to see about having them help you hide the wires. There is also a remote eye that can take the place of large equipment so that you can hide it in another location
