concerened about the heat gain. I would be concerned, in either case about the durability of the paint. It will take a beating from the sun and most likely fade much quicker than a lighter color. You should check with your local paint suppliers to see if they have appropriate dark colors and paint mixtures
doubt about that. Regional architecture has certain characteristics that respond to the local enviroment. Light, refelctive colors are more suitable to warm sunny climates such as yours, and is why you would see predominatley light colors in Florida. If the home is insulated well, the heat gain should
