ASID is a community of people driven by a common love for design and committed to the belief that interior design, as a service to people, is a powerful, multi-faceted profession that can positively change people's lives. Through education, knowledge sharing, advocacy, community building and outreach, the Society strives to advance the interior design profession and, in the process, to demonstrate and celebrate the power of design to positively change people's lives. Its more than 30,000 members engage in a variety of professional programs and activities through a network of 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada.

Founded in 1975, the American Society of Interior Designers is the largest and leading professional organization for interior designers. The Society celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2010, but the rich, vibrant history of the organization goes back further--much further--to the founding of its predecessor organizations, the American Institute of Interior Designers (AID) and the National Society of Interior Designers (NSID).

ASID inspires and enriches its members by promoting the value of interior design, while providing indispensable knowledge and experiences that build relationships. The Society's practicing interior designers work in all areas of both commercial and residential design. Professional members of ASID must pass rigorous acceptance standards: They must have a combination of accredited design education and/or full-time work experience and pass a two-day accreditation examination administered by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).

ASID Industry Partners include more than 2,700 member firms with some 7,500 individual representatives, uniting the professional designer with manufacturers of design-related products and services.

The Society's membership also includes more than 10,500 students of interior design. ASID has student chapters at colleges, universities and design schools with 2-year and 4-year programs throughout the U.S. and "virtual" chapters through Rhodec International and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online.
The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) is the premiere association for kitchen and bath professionals. Fifty years after its inception, the NKBA has a membership of more than 60,000 members and is the proud owner of the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS).

KBIS
Our Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) is the largest trade show worldwide for the kitchen and bath industry. Every year, we bring hundreds of exhibitors together to showcase new ideas, products, and services.

Degree Programs
We accredit programs that offer students a specialty in kitchen and bath design. Visit College and University Accreditation to view the list of NKBA-accredited colleges and universities. Students who graduate from these programs are prepared to work in the kitchen and bath industry and qualify to sit for the examination to earn the NKBA designation Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer (AKBD) upon graduation.
Professional Resource Library & NKBA Magazine
The NKBA offers a complete Professional Resource Library for the trade, ranging from basic textbooks to advanced and specialized design books. In addition, we publish NKBA Magazine each quarter to meet the interests and concerns of our members.
Consumer Inspiration and Guidance
For consumers, we showcase designers and their work on this website. We also provide free planning guides and product information, and educate homeowners in choosing a designer, asking the right questions, and working with a designer or remodeling firm. In the interest of better communications, we provide a complete glossary of design terms.
