Modern is Modern Again in Portola Valley

this remodel in Portola Valley, California we were hired to rejuvenate a circa 1980 modernist house clad in deteriorating vertical wood siding. The house included a greenhouse style sunroom which got so unbearably hot as to be unusable. We opened up the floor plan and completely demolished the sunroom
to the remodeled living room and kitchen. We added a new office and deck above the new dining room and replaced all of the exterior windows, mostly with oversized sliding aluminum doors by Fleetwood to open the house up to the wooded hillside setting. Stainless steel railings protect the inhabitants
upstairs and remodeled the existing powder room. Architecture by Mark Brand Architecture. Interior Design by Mark Brand Architecture in collaboration with Applegate Tran Interiors. Lighting design by Luminae Souter. Photos by Christopher Stark Photography.

during a remodel in '85. So now I have a "T" shaped room with the leg of the T cut in half and an island thrown in for good measure! My plans are to paint the cabinets, as they are very sturdy and well made. So much to do! Granite installation is tomorrow. If only I could find a tile layer who would show
it. I'm remodeling my kitchen in a few weeks and trying to nail down some specific paint colors. Thanks!

The cabinets are in great shape and I intent to paint them similar to the ones here. I'd like to paint the island a deeper color, any ideas? Look for more pictures as the room

I've also found that due to the pigmentation in the paints any colour in the range works with any other colour. Always buy a test pot and paint the
