Aesthetically, I love the appearance of this deck. I have never walked on an Ipe or Teak tiled deck--does it feel not as "solid" as a standard deck?

An extension of the kitchen and living room addition, the arching deck continues the lines of the kitchen and extends the living space into the back yard.

That deck was designed in response to a specific site condition and as an extension to the new addition. We don't typically sell plans because each condition is unique and is going to call for a unique solution. We would be happy to work with you to design a deck that fits your house

This is a very attractive deck/step design. How did you construct it?
I have a modest level of carpentry skills. How difficult is this project on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being not difficult at all and 10 being very difficult? I hope to replace a deck on my daughter's house with a similar design

Hi Susan and Aburpee, From the look of the deck it seems if they used a UV inhibitor Oil. Usually Ipe doesn't take staining well because of its density. We usually recommend
Messmer's UV Plus. These two oils have worked wonderfully for all Ipe, Tigerwood, Cumaru, and many other hardwoods. Here are some pictures of finished decks. That have used Ipe Oil or Messmer's Hope this helps.
