Just wondering I ripped down an old grain bin we had and am putting the boards on a wall downstairs. How did you clean it up and did you stain it with a clear coat or anything I want
Carmen - there's lots of info online on process and I went back and forth a lot. In the end we just cleaned the boards with an air compressor and installed as-is with no finish of any kind. We did paint the wall black behind it so the wall didn't show through on where the knots were. You need to be careful
don't offer the custom color cords so just give us a call and we can get you a price on that. Maybe our website will help spark some ideas for other projects.
Barn board feature wall and light fixture - could do something similar, more spread out over 2 storey living room

the office was placed with the view front and center. Although a rooftop deck and code compliant staircase were outside the scope and budget of the project, a roof access hatch and hidden staircase were included. The hidden staircase is actually a bookcase, but the view from the roof top was too good
to the roof access where the person is heading is too low — watch your head!
This stair is technically a bookcase, since it’s not code compliant and the opening to the roof access where the person is heading is too low — watch your head!

This project received the award for the 2010 CT Homebuilder's Association Best Bathroom Renovation. It features a 5500 pound solid boulder bathtub, radius glass block shower with two walls covered in book matched full slabs of marble, and reclaimed wide board rustic white oak floors installed over hydronic
the wainscot paneling, chestnut barn timbers were added for effect and also serve as a channel to deliver water supply to the shower via a rain shower head and to the tub via a Kohler laminar flow tub filler. The entire addition was built with 2x8 wall framing and has been filled with full cavity open

How long should the glass from the rainwater shower head to avoid water splatter outside the wet area?
The steel brackets on the bench are cantilevered from the wall and were connected during framing, before the backer board and tile install.
the slot drain in this project is tile over a linear drain from Roger Seller, they sell beautiful drains with stainless grates. http://www.rogerseller.com.au

Can you please tell me who the builder was on this project?
had to apply a caulk along the vertical seams of the pillars? I have done the same thing at my place but there was a gap along the seam where the boards meet. If you did use a caulk, or filler can you let me know what product it was. I would like to stain my pillars and I'm worried about the caulk
The columns are actually wrapped with 1x 10 rough sawn cedar. We use western red cedar on our projects because of its natural beauty and its ability to hold up to the weather. Thanks for asking ! Dan

may cause people to trip. Have fun with your project.
There is a natural spring head that is located at the lower right hand corner of the photograph - hence the use of Astilbe and Ferns etc. that love wet feet. Maintaining the stone lined creek bed requires a fair amount of maintenance (hand weeding)
