The original kitchen had the refrigerator, stove and sink on one side, leaving little to no room for counters. Lawrence remembers his grandparents often prepping food on the table in the adjacent dining room because they couldn't use the kitchen counter at the same time. Putting the refrigerator and

The floor is a cararra octagon with black marble "dots". If you Google "cararra octagon and dot mosaic" you will find reasonable ones on the internet. Gina G. Moffitt, AIA
But on the floor, which was cararra marble, we used Snow White, which is a bit grayer.
Tile work- not the color black on the arch though

How was the floor pattern accomplished?
How did you get the two-tone diamonds on the floor? Thanks!
How did you do this floor?
I believe that the countertops are marble. As I'm sure you know, marble is not without maintenance, but it is also is a longstanding treasured kitchen countertop material. It is known to stain, but perhaps the dark color may hide spots better — it's all whether or not you mind the stains.
care to use a few supplemental recessed cans as supplemental lighting. You don't want to use really bright candelabra bulbs in these lights in the kitchen, as they will create some glare in your eyes at night. I agree. It looks like an Oak floor with a gunstock or similar finish. Look at the Minwax website to get an idea of available stains.
Thanks for asking about our kitchen/family room combination. We were not involved with the furniture selection, so
We unified this kitchen and family room by using the same oak hardwood throughout with a dark brown stain. One manufacturer called the stain color "Gunstock."

Love the floors!!!! Can you tell me what type of flooring and color?
What color are the actual kitchen cabinets "perimeter"?
Hi Andrew1518, The glazes used by Grabill for this kitchen were by Guardsman. I don't know if Guardsman uses the same names for their glazes as Grabill, or not. You may want to check with a local Grabill dealer or another kitchen cabinetry showroom for something similar. Alternatively a good
my new kitchen is going to have 12 ft ceiling as well and am wondering what an acceptable height for cabinetry is?
Thanks and sorry for the delay, I've been out of town. The floors are limestone, but I'm afraid I don't know the particular color blend. If you show this photo to a local tile shop they can probably show you both

Our Antique Beam Sawn flooring in random widths from 2.5"-6.5". The flooring was stained with 1 part Bona "medium brown" and one part Bona "natural". Then three clear coats of "Bona naturale" to finish. This gorgeous house overlooks Lake Michigan.
can you tell me what the flooring is, and if there is a stain?
Love the floors! Do you recommend the floors to be in
in a set pattern or should the floor placement just be random? Thank you
Thanks so much for responding! We were thinking about doing 4, 5, and 6 inch width floors because its hard to find 7 in floors and to keep cost down. Do you recommend doing a random pattern with these widths?
