The floor is a cararra octagon with black marble "dots". If you Google "cararra octagon and dot mosaic" you will find reasonable ones on the internet. Gina G. Moffitt, AIA

I believe that the countertops are marble. As I'm sure you know, marble is not without maintenance, but it is also is a longstanding treasured kitchen countertop material. It is known to stain, but perhaps the dark color may hide spots better — it's all whether or not you mind the stains.
care to use a few supplemental recessed cans as supplemental lighting. You don't want to use really bright candelabra bulbs in these lights in the kitchen, as they will create some glare in your eyes at night. Dim them down to a mellow glow and rely on the recessed to to the main job...without the glare

I agree. It looks like an Oak floor with a gunstock or similar finish. Look at the Minwax website to get an idea of available stains.

We unified this kitchen and family room by using the same oak hardwood throughout with a dark brown stain. One manufacturer called the stain color "Gunstock."

Hi Andrew1518, The glazes used by Grabill for this kitchen were by Guardsman. I don't know if Guardsman uses the same names for their glazes as Grabill, or not. You may want to check with a local Grabill dealer or another kitchen cabinetry showroom for something similar. Alternatively a good

Our Antique Beam Sawn flooring in random widths from 2.5"-6.5". The flooring was stained with 1 part Bona "medium brown" and one part Bona "natural". Then three clear coats of "Bona naturale" to finish. This gorgeous house overlooks Lake Michigan.

Thanks so much for responding! We were thinking about doing 4, 5, and 6 inch width floors because its hard to find 7 in floors and to keep cost down. Do you recommend doing a random pattern with these widths?
