Durango Travertine - for counter top
Stone tiles are made of the same material found in slabs, like marble and granite, but at a fraction of the cost. Common sizes used for kitchen counters include 12- by 12-inch
wide by counter depth. Grout lines are often minimized to mask the material's smaller size.

block counters. I made a bar out of one roughly 73"x 25 1/2" for only $129. When looking to have it made the cost was over $2K...Obviously not the same but pretty close. Make sure you treat it over and over with the food safe rub they sell.

and the counter opposite? Is there a minimum distance required?
how tall is the second tier on counter top?
What type of counter tops are these?
The counters are at 36 inches above the finished floor (AFF) and the upper surface is 42 inches AFF, or 6 inches above the counter.
I try to leave a minimum of 42" between counters, 48" or more is better - especially to maneuver around open DW & oven doors. Hard to tell in the pic whether the sink on the right is in an island

How deep are your cabinets? How deep is your counter?
At only 5'-3", I actually do find this to be a high counter at 42"! But the owners wished this type of solution... and are quite happy with it! (They are also much taller than I!) The counter here is really for convenience and cleanliness. Cheers, Jodi.
The Washer and Dryer here are large capacity, which meant that the counter needed to be 6" higher and deeper than a typical 36" high X 25.5 " deep kitchen countertop.
The Washer and Dryer are by LG. These were installed in the Laundry/Mudroom (adjacent to the kitchen) and their large capacity meant that the counter was 6" higher and deeper than a typical kitchen countertop.
The counters are Alaska White Granite. Supplied and installed by Bordignon Marble & Granite, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Cabinets are in paint colour Behr "Off White"

Who makes the under the counter washing machine and do you have a ballpark figure for its cost?
inexpensive solution to cover/protect the surface of my new washer and dryer. It's a front loader like pictured here and I would love to use the top as counter space. Any suggestion? I do have cabinets above so i just need some suggestions to make the top into a countertop. Thanks, any and all suggestions
The counter top over the washer and dryer is a wood top with legs on the right and left sides. It was painted to match the cabinetry. A great solution - it also lifts up if the washer and dryer need to be removed or serviced.
