I do a lot of these nooks and I usually make them at least 6'wide and 6' deep. You need to maintian the same dimension from the face of the table to the back of the seat so if you have less space you end up with a narrower table

instead of a breakfast bar and small island > My kitchen is like a suare with iland what are your thoughts of the island being about 10 ft and open to breakfast room instead of more closed with the breakfast bar?
have a breakfast nook area we are thinking of adding a bench to - but windows go kind of low. I don't think we have space for a back. Does this work for you?
