Less Lawn More Garden
"The circular seating area links a large side yard with the equally large front yard, giving both a raison d'etre. The rounded "carpet" of crushed stone has some nice detailing, including the block edging and the flagstone path that cuts through it. Not too casual; not too formal. Definitely inviting
design, I have a similar color colonial, that we are landscaping. Would love to know the plants used in front of the house, also, what are the pavers/stones on the front porch?
The plantings inlcude nepeta, ninebark, holly, euphorbia and japanese aneoneme. The stones are Pennsylvania field stone. Hope this helps! More images at www.WestoverLD.com

You can add some oversize pieces of flagstone as stepping stones, as shown here, or leave it simpler. Add an edging material around your gravel area to keep the surrounding grass from growing in — steel edging, bender board and mortared stone are all great options.

what is the name of the stone used and where can i find it?
patio was done on concrete. however we have a brand new way to do the installation. a crushed limestone #11 is used for a base, the stones are laid on top of this stone and a special permeable sand is used in the joints. the sand is from Unilock. the entire application is permeable.
pouring a concrete sidewalk? Hate to pay for a concrete and then cover it up. How would you install if not on a concrete sidewalk? Base of crushed stone compacted and then grout the joints, or would you have to much movement?
Rock walk to the front porch. Like grays too, but possibly more red or terra cotta if the brick stays on the house.
flagstone pavers (but not the color very much), lush borders
