on the size and length of the structure you are planning to build. If it is purely an open rafter structure than i would suggest 24" center to center. Before you start ripping into your home I would suggest checking with your local building inspector to see what guidelines they have on open structures
I like that it's an extension of building instead of free standing

Lot size 30'x95' (2850 sq. ft). Coastal Commission comes into play as right on canal and the Venice Canals are a Historic Preservation Area. So, no build inside of 10' of property line on canal facing side. 22' height restriction at that 10' mark followed by an additional feet height every two feet of
of the property preferably front canal facing end. 2 car garage and a third car inside property line on alleyway has to be allowed for. I this max build limit is 3,750 sq. ft on FAR allowance. Would this plan work? I think it should, but would love to chat! Ridaa

metal panel, simple roof line with no decking underneath

Nick Deaver Architect calls this house Walkabout, but it is located in suburban Austin, not Australia. The name is apt both for the building's vernacular appearance (covered in corrugated metal) and the low-maintenance landscaping, recalling a place more remote than it is. The linear house carefully
