We used 2x10 smooth painted fascia boards. With 21" of depth you may want to build up your fascia with maybe a 2x12 and a 2x10.

rafter tops, so you see the decking rather than the roofing from below. The roofing shown here might actually be appealing if left showing on exterior porch, as the architect had intended. If you go with standard metal as opposed to something more of the copper variety, you might consider the decking option
