We plan to build wooden stairs and looked around from some in here... in here we see the wooden stairs are pretty thick... so we were wondering if they are cladding over concrete stairs or are they real thick wooden stairs...? Thanks in advance for your reponse.

Hi Jason, these stairs are actually comprised of engineerd bent steel plates that are clad in 3/4" hardwood. The steel plates are fastened into a concrete wall which was clad in stone. The steel plates eliminate any flex when walking on the stairs and allowed us to use the glass panels

How do the building codes allow you to build a stair like this without a gaurdrail on the open side?

We are installing similar stairs. The wood boxes were glued to the metal treads, but now the wood is splitting and joints are separating. Can it be caused by temperature differences
