make the butcher block appear thicker than the 1 1/2" that it is, but don't know if it will work. Just glue it on and clamp to dry?
custom butcher block counter tops and this looks like Eastern Maple. It could also be Big Leaf Maple (native Northwest wood) which is a bit warmer than Eastern Maple.
