Ted, What exactly is your concern with the butterfly roof? Is it waterproofing, aesthetics, heat gain etc..? If it is aethetics, I would have to agree with bepsf above. If it is other than aethetics -

Love the roof but would this be a good roof in a snowy climate? Worried about snow piling up and leaking?
Looks like an engineering and flashing nightmare in that huge roof valley. Massive snow loading potential and problem area for wetting and leakage. I'd never do it. Looks nice though.

How well does your roof drainage scupper collector work on the butterfly roof?? Does it overflow and would you redesign if you had the option?
when it rains it pours in Houston so there is not much blow back, it typically shoots off the roof quite strong. We also don't get much snowfall here.
