I love the cable deck railing.
We have a Texas Hill Country House and have a multi level home that needs interesting railing for safety that does not impede our lovely view to the hills. How would we construct this and what materials would our contractor need? Thank you
The rail you see in the picture is Feeney cable rail strung between custom made galvanized pipe posts. There is bar stock hidden in the wood cap rail, necessary to keep the posts from pulling together under the tension of the cable.
to account for cable sag midspan.

deck rail with wire - much better view!!
So far, the best "style" for a deck with railing; using horizontal vs. vertical barriers. Spaced 4 inches apart horizontally ??

Is the railing steel cable or steel rods?
Where do you buy this railing system, is it difficult to install?
2" x 1/2" steel plates...w/ steel cables...not so easy to install....sorry.....rich
Whose cable & fittings did you use for infill? Your spacing looks too wide to pass code, did you have any issues? The railing looks beautiful though.

techniques that were used to create the railings on this beautiful porch. Is there a manufacture that makes this cable and top rail? Thank you.
What was used for the handrails? Are the rails 3.5 inches wide?
It is a Cable Rail system. The top rail is 3.5" wide
Depends what you get ,there are all types of railings and there IS more than one manufacturer. No matter what setting,in PERSON,of what i have seen the effect is industrial.
Having seen hundreds of images of cable railing over the last couple
mainly fit in with "contemporary" architecture, but seeing images like the Fredrick + Frederick residence and James Hill's architecture. where the cable almost becomes invisible, and the rest of the architecture remains predominant, and the view takes precedence, I can now see exciting possibilities

How expensive are the cable railings? I want them on my deck so I can see the birds at my feeders.
Who makes this all steel cable system? Thank you
I had someone quote me on 9 feet of cable railing with posts for interior stairs at about $4000. Based on the costs of the materials I see at sites like Ultra-tec and Atlantic railing, also at Stair service, I could not understand why the cost was so high. Maybe

A popular feature of homes in the area is a wrap-around porch. The sleek lines of the stainless steel cable railing system add a contemporary touch and allow for unobstructed views of the lake.

was this deck and railing over $20k?
We are a manufacturer of cable railing systems. We offer both stainless and aluminum railing systems that are very easily installed. http://stainlesscablerailing.com

top rail the same wood as the deck ?
Keuka Studios makes a similar, pre-engineered railing you may want to consider.
Vinyl tends to degrade over time, becomes brittle. Stainless steel will last for decades. Another source for CableRail is Feeney, Inc.
