Questions1
I love the cable deck railing.
The rail you see in the picture is Feeney cable rail strung between custom made galvanized pipe posts. There is bar stock hidden in the wood cap rail, necessary to keep the posts from pulling together under the tension of the cable.

For the exact same "invisibility" reason, I designed and installed my horizontal cable railing system. Cables were black oxide coated to further disappear. Ultra-tec makes amazing fittings that hide inside the posts. Be aware that the cables must be tensioned

decades, I would tend to disagree. Initially, I would have thought it would mainly fit in with "contemporary" architecture, but seeing images like the Fredrick + Frederick residence and James Hill's architecture. where the cable almost becomes invisible, and the rest of the architecture remains predominant

Flummoxed about how to hide unsightly wall cables indoors? Embrace them as part of the design. Not only do these cables act as graphic, industrial-style frames for the windows, but they also inform the room's palette.

Questions7
Love the railing, what type of cable tighteners did you use? How did you connect the cable in corner post? t
the architect - Peter McDonald used the Standard Cable Assemblies (with a Quick-Connect® fitting & Threaded Terminal), stainless beveled washers and stainless steel caps for this railing. The system passes through exposed posts. But there are many fitting offerings, if optional attachment is required.
The railing system pictured here is CableRail by Feeney, which uses 316 marine grade steel, ideal for extreme weather conditions. For more information, you can visit our website ... or contact us at 800-888-2418. Thank you for your interest!

Are these cable railings more expensive than say vinyl?
This job used CableRail by feeney. You can find more info here, ...
We are a manufacturer of cable railing systems. We offer both stainless and aluminum railing systems that are very easily installed.
Vinyl tends to degrade over time, becomes brittle. Stainless steel will last for decades. Another source for CableRail is Feeney, Inc.
