What kind of candle should I buy?
I have tried this once before but the candle wax drips all over the sand and it is extremely hard to clean up. Is there a certain type of candle that I can use for this decoration?
Melt the pillar candle down a bit, and use a liquid oil candle. You can purchase them from New England Oil Lamp. They will burn for 19 hours, and not make the melted mess. Melt it down further than you would for a tea light. They are great in all sorts of holiday decor!
type of candle can make quite a mess of wax on the shells/sand when it melts. One solution I have found is to let it burn down so far and then put a plastic cased tea light in the hole. No more drips and your pillar candle won't have to be replaced...
