This is a gorgeous entryway, and I especially love the concrete, but I'm curious about the pit to the left of the door? What is it and isn't it kind of dangerous?
Is the concrete sealed or polished?
Hi, The concrete color is Davis colors, Adobe.
Hi, The concrete is sandblasted and then sealed. It also has an integral color which gives is a slightly warmer tone.

beautiful! love the use of all materials and the lightness. I am a landscape designer and working to detail floating steps over a pond. So instead of concrete we are using 3" jet mist granite slabs (2'x5')...trying to figure out the minimum overhang over the foundation so it apears to be floating without
cool use of concrete to step down slope
Concrete floor is a good idea but can you "heat" the floor
1. What’s in the mix? When selecting a concrete mix, your construction team will factor in strength and performance specifications for the cured material. They may also consider sustainability factors, including whether to add coal fly ash to the mix. There is some debate over the greenness of coal fly

how did you score the concrete?
As the Architect we were not involved in scoring the concrete floor. If you are planning a project with concrete as the finish floor, best to ask a concrete contractor about your unique situation
Hello, Thank you for your kind comments! The integral color of the scored concrete was completed back in 2000, and I do not have easy access to the offsite project archives. The color reads between a black and dark olive and looks

Love the patio. Is this concrete? Is there a pattern or are lines random? Thank you.
poured in place concrete with asymmetrical saw cut control joints sand washed / acid washed finish
the patio’s place.Typical project length: One day.Permit required: None for the project, although some municipalities require a permit for dumping concrete, so call ahead.Project considerations: While your contractor will check with utility companies to make sure there aren’t any gas lines lurking beneath
rebar or an unexpected gas line, the project may be slightly delayed or cost more. Your contractor will also likely use a jackhammer to remove the concrete, so it might be a good idea to plan to be gone for the day so you aren’t disturbed by the noise. Give your neighbors due consideration as well.

Which stain is used on the concrete floor to get it so even looking?
Hello, could you share who you used for your concrete work. We are hoping to have cement floors in our entry and live in the Seattle area. Would

I am guessing that the floors are painted concrete? What type of paint/sealer is used, and what type of prep
I love this look. How difficult is it to maintain? We have kids and a dog and the area with concrete floors would be hall/famiy room that would open out to the backyard (grass, gravel etc).... I love white but will it be dirty all the time?
Polished concrete, painted with a sand colored paint
Painted concrete Painted concrete floors are a great low-cost option. Painting will protect the concrete slab from moisture while giving it a seamless, clean look. Easy to clean, allergy-free and super hardwearing
This concrete floor was acid etched and then painted with a low-sheen paint, creating a matte look, and a topcoat was not used.
