clad in cedar shingles, divided-light windows and a metal barn roof in homage to Bridgehampton's potato farming and agrarian roots. Chmielewski chose cable railings for the balconies because they disappear into the shingles when seen from afar and don't obstruct the view.

Would you share the product used on the shingles? We have sided w/cedar shingles and are now concerned about the maintenance. We may paint them. They are not treated at this point...waiting for weather conditions to change. Beautiful house-love this look!
Each shingle was individually hand-dipped into a 50/50 mixture of both Clear and Timbertone.
I know this is an older post...we are building a new Four Square home with Cedar shingles on top separated by a white band trim and Hardie Cement below. I was wondering what color stain did you use on the
the Cedar? I love the color. Thanks so much!

like these better than cedar shakes
Love the cedar shingle look and the cobble stone patio/driveway.

for the cedar siding and shingles?
Thanks for your response. We love the look of fresh cedar shingles, but it has been an ongoing challenge to preserve their beauty. We use western red cedar here, which have a warm pinkish cast when first installed. Knowing this will not last, we pre-stain them
for wall shingles protected with a roof overhang. But for Cape or other Colonial Revival styles without an overhang, a semi-transparent stain does not provide enough protection. In Seattle's soggy climate exterior wood remains wet half the year. Even with a mildacide added to stain, exposed shingles
love the shingle stain. Would you mind sharing the color/type? Thanks!
Really like the contrast between roof and shakes - what roofing shingle did you use?
I have a question in general about cedar shake siding. I love it. It's beautiful in all the photos. But I keep seeing that
this all cedar siding or can you prevent the greying with stain each year?
