6. Create relaxed spaces. Relaxed and approachable interiors inform your children that they can actually relax in their home. Color, relaxed fabrics and fun accessories indicate that your home's public spaces are for kids, too. This will go a long way toward establishing a sense of belonging and well-being

Instead of providing separate bedrooms for the two young children, we designed a single large bedroom with a sliding wall of Douglas fir. Half of the space can be configured as a playroom, with the children sleeping on the other side. The playroom can also function as a guest room. Photo by Ofer Wolberger
Where can I find more information about the mat used in the children's bedroom?
As gorgeous as these modern extra-wide doors are, the sounds of children playing are sure to be heard in the adjacent spaces. That's not so good if you're working or sleeping, but it's very good if you're taking care of small children.

present, transforming the space into a haven of style. While rustic timber flooring sets the tone, the antique dresser sits right beside a Mid-century children’s chair. A collection of Italian and Danish ceramics and a retro carved wooden bust adorn the top, all beautifully positioned to catch the eye. Simple

4. Mix rustic furniture with refined lighting. Well-worn wooden tables, benches and chairs can take a beating and still look great, making them ideal for a casual chic home (where you want to enjoy your life, not worry about damaging your furniture) — but that doesn’t mean you must forgo glamour altogether

These floors are beautiful and we are considering 5" Birch for our home. I'm concerned that it's too soft of a wood and we have 2 small children who will put a lot of wear and tear on them. I'd love to know your opinion on this!
Where can I get the red furniture piece behind the dining table?
Birch may be too soft for a home with two children. You could stain a Hickory floor the same color as this picture and it would hold up much better in the long run.
