California Cottage
wanted a beach vibe in their 1700 sq. ft. home. They wanted to make the most of their spaces by widening doorways, adding wood floors throughout the house, and adding a skylight. The result is cozy, casual California living at its best with frequent family dinners and celebrations with friends. Photos
My love for all things coastal shows in this room
I like the simple design and the tile facing. This is the best one I've seen for MBR and Qlt Studio. It doesn't have to be identical to the photo, but that same simplicity
neighborhood is located in the foothills, the homeowners love the shore and coastal colors, and wanted to have a relaxed, beachy feel at home. Structurally, Neithart had the floors replaced and added crown molding throughout the house. She broke open a few walls, and added transoms and a skylight to a bedroom

This built-in rooftop hot tub and deck not only look stunning, but offer an amazing view of Sydney Harbour and the Opera House. The warm tones of the timber
there's light the sky, you won't stub your toe on a blind run out there. And oh, yeah, you might be greeted with a fantastic view.Browse more outdoor design ideas

Coastal Loft Sun-Drenched Kitchen
DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". Lisa designed this kitchen as the central, sun-drenched gathering spot for the home. First, she added character to the envelope with simple
specifying v-groove board cladding on the gable ends and backsplash, beams on the vaulted ceiling, and reclaimed antique heart pine flooring. She designed the cabinetry to hide all appliances - including pair of SubZero refrigerator/freezers, Miele dishwashers and microwave - save the free-standing range

new link between historic house and barn
Renovation of an historic home. An addition between the existing house and barn in Hingham's Glad Tidings Historic District created a new entry, informal living room, kitchen with cooking fireplace and pantry, and deck. The addition, with it's clerestory, provides lots of natural lighting. The client

the use of the area between house and garage. A cool atrium, perhaps?
The shutters really pop on the all white federal house.

good looks, it communicates strength and solidity. The clay tile roof, front porch etc. were there when Brewer bought the house in 1998. But of course, as with any older house, things needed repair, replacement and redoing. So the front porch was rebuilt and all new landscaping was done.
