identify the material used for our readers. It looks like concrete, but please let me know if that's correct or not. Thank you!
what type of sealer was used on this concrete backsplash?
I absolutely love the backsplash - where can I find this?
Can anyone install/create such a backsplash? What is the cost?
It is quite a dramatic look. I'd love it to go with a River White Granite that also has a similar "movement", but this is one backsplash that won't, I don't think, fight
What kind of backsplash is that? It's beautiful!

what material is the backsplash? who makes it?
I love the look. Great backsplash and cool cabinets. Only thing is the functionality of the hood. It looks like it's pushed right up against the uppers. tough to clean I'd guess.
Like the vertical tile design on backsplash. Better than horizontal.
backsplash doesn't go all the way up
3. Extensive options for backsplashes. In a pure modern kitchen you might see a full-height marble or concrete backsplash with little ornamentation, but in contemporary kitchens there's often a lot of pattern. What is the backsplash made of?
Jeff from Fifth Element Homes - Thanks for the information about the concrete backsplash. Who was the vendor/installer on that detail? How does the cost of that material compare to the cost of a standard mosaic or tile backsplash? Thanks in advance!
Hi and thanks for your inquiry! It is concrete! Check out this article: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/1003551/list/Kitchen-of-the-Week--Ultra-White-Cabinetry-in-Calgary Thanks! Jeff
Hi! Thanks for your inquiry! That is a seamless custom concrete, which eliminates any grout lines. It was given a unique wave-like pattern and texture for visual interest. We love it! Hope you do as well!

My concrete floor has just been screeded. What will I need to apply to get it nice and glossy? Thank you
This is actually the concrete foundation of the building. We insulated this wall on the outside to meet code and built a short wood wall for mounting the lower cabinets and running plumbing and electrical lines.
was a pretty small job. For larger jobs in our area, market rate is closer to $4/sf. You can add both water-based and petroleum based products to concrete and get most of the way there, but this finish is more durable and consistent. Hope this helps!
