my hardest for years to decorate this way and always come out feeling like my rooms are empty. I have read many articles and studied many pictures, yet I still feel like I've failed. If you have any advice for me I would greatly, greatly appreciate it?

7. Bold and contemporary Arizona living room. Browns, grays and blacks tie this living room together seamlessly. The perfectly suited set of furniture made this room worth saving, and Houzzers noted the well-designed layout as well.

Dining Room
What would you consider this home? transitional or traditional?
consider this transitional style. The traditional part is the formal set up of the dining room, but the furnishings and finishes are contemporary; the chandelier, the drapery fabric, the clean lines on those chairs. Transitional bridges traditional with contemporary--beautifully.
canvas. The whole middle ground is sky reflection and the lower two sevenths is looking down into the water. It feels very peaceful with the muted colors yet there is the dynamic of the flowing water that prevents from being static.

The dining room has a clean and contemporary feel to it, while the cornicing and wall panelling Meisels designed lend a traditional feel. ‘This room was a blank canvas with bare walls and really no room for a sideboard

This playful bubble glass chandelier adds a very contemporary detail to an otherwise very traditional space — from the old marble fireplace mantel to the heavy and detailed window and door trim, to the pressed-tin ceiling and cove details. And yet it really works. Combined with the bamboo, Asian-style
one of my favorite rooms on Houzz. In this setting with a mix of vintage style upholstered furniture and a whimsical chandelier juxtaposed against traditional architecture, I can't imagine anything other than a natural fiber rug to tie the space together.

Two-finger pinch pleats. This pinch pleat uses less fabric than other pinch pleats so it gives a more contemporary look. Two pleats are pinched together one or two inches from the top of the drape, like a V shape, that then flow down in a tailored fashion.
A subtle ginkgo motif on the bench at the foot of the bed gives this traditional bedroom a welcome layer of pattern.

Transitional Master Bedroom
These chairs were in my family and I had them recovered in a Kravet fabric. I then added the casters to bring the height up to match the height of the ottoman after adding new tapered legs to the ottoman.
I'd like to add chairs by the window in our master - as you have done here. Yet, I'm not sure I have sufficient space. Is there a rule of thumb (or minimum) space that one should allow between the bed and chairs?
A printed bolster and throw keep this room from becoming too whitewashed, yet keep it serene.
So many people have done away with landline phones, but those who haven't must wrestle with how to make a contemporary phone work with their decor. It's no doubt a potentially clash-ridden situation, since phone design has more to do with functionality than style
