I have cookbook storage in same location. Works great and I highly recommend it to those remodeling their kitchen. Cat on counter...not so much.
I am planning to put my cookbooks in the cabinet above my wall ovens unless I can find a way to work in a barrister bookcase. I don't want mine near the floor in an open shelf because I have small kids who get into everything...

Regarding the bookshelf: Why didn't they make it a TWO shelf bookshelf so the cookbooks could stand up rather than lay down....it looks soooo messy. Two shelves would have accomodated all the books and looked a lot nicer. :o) Just

I have even more magazines than I have cookbooks. Unfortunately, I don't have nearly enough room to store them in my kitchen. These shelves are a great way to store the newest issues, or a few old favorites.
I love the addition of the handles! It kind of gives the illusion of drawers that have been partially pulled out. That's a lot of storage for cookbooks using what would have been blank cabinet walls.

Pull out the cookbooks. You may not have a custom-built island with designated cookbook space, but that doesn't mean you can't display cookbooks. There could be room on an open shelf, on top of the refrigerator or even on the counter.
