Cottage paneling and the offered ceiling.
This cottage bedroom’s 8-foot ceiling has 5½-inch tongue and groove boards and 5-inch-deep beams that are integrated with the crown molding. The effect is a cozy one that’s punctuated by a fireplace.

love this cottage guest room. Were there any setback issues with the property line? Maybe it was small enough to categorize as a shed? I'd love to know because this would be great for us too and we live close to SF in Marin County. Thanks!
The cottage was existing - it had been rebuilt a few years ago by the previous owner because there was already an existing structure there. SF Planning Dept would not allow a new structure to be built here now, but it was existing.
backyard cottage. Even homes with a yard smaller than this one often have room for special touches. This yard has many inspiring small-space ideas — readers particularly liked the raised garden beds.
