Want to add some luxury things to your home? You still can, but do it the smart way. If you want to add a luxury fabric you love like popular silk damask or ikat patterns, use it for pillows that can be easily replaced instead of investing in upholstering a whole couch or ottoman.
solid or patterned fabric. It may seem contrary, but geometric patterns look great in the most traditional spaces mixed right in with ikat, chintz or damask.

Damask stenciled bathroom with textured finish
This is a great, rich traditional feeling. Damask works well above or below the chair rail.
I love the gold on black. Not so fond of the diamond trim though. The damask is great.
Stenciling damask takes some practice and can be time consuming. Finishing one wall as an accent wall in dramatic colors like this black and gold can be plenty for one room. Try it out with one wall and see how you like it.

really fun idea is to reverse a damask design when repeating it in a space. Here we see green-on-white for the drapes and white-on-green on the wall. Similar options would be to do a color reversal for a pillow/bed set combination, a wallpaper/ furniture combination or a damask ceiling/ floor combination
