How was the deck attached to the ground? Did you use footings or just lay the whole thing on top of the ground?
Thank you, though I have to confess our lovely client built the deck himself. I believe the joists are made of treated pine. They are sacrificial joists, ie they will rot over time as they are laid on the ground. Alternatively you could raise the joist on metal stirrups, set in concrete. This would
"Framing" on this deck has several layers, rather than just one. Cool design.
different edge makes deck look a little more finished but maybe rail will do the same?

What is the under the deck
Angelim is the hardwood used for the deck and we used a TWP pecan sealer. Thanks! We love the deck as well!
Love! What type of wood was used on the deck? What kind of stain is on the deck?
you have any images of this deck during construction?
The deck is conventionally framed using treated pine. There is also a limestone retaining wall underneath that is not visible. This deck actually sits on a significant
significant slope. The near part of the deck is at ground level and the far is about 9 feet above the ground. So much goes into what you never see! Thanks for the question!

How much to slolpe a second floor wood decking to get water run off.
heavy rain at times and need to consider water run off on my second floor wood decking.
an ipe deck for our project…. pie is more expensive. It is also important to try and obtain it from sustainable sources.
Is Ipe more or less expensive than going with a composite decking like Trex

The succulents in the planters! Concrete planters with wood decking!
Wood decking. And a wood deck is much more inviting than one made of a composite material. Each board will weather at its own pace and take on that patina that says, "Come, sit here and enjoy the view."

What is the stain and type of wood on the deck?
The deck is so beautiful!! How do you put lights in it?
They are a 1 watt LED deck light in copper, but you can get them in 316 grade stainless steel. They require a driver to run the lights and any qualified electrician can install

Love the deck! What kind of wood?
what is the color stain used on the deck?
I just installed an ipe deck and am tossed with letting it just bleach out or oil it looking for the pros and cons of either
Looks great!! I just had my deck finished, I am looking for a barnish that will give that final look! Any ideas?
I would love to know the color of stain used on the deck.
If the deck surface is less than 30" above grade we don't need a guardrail
