I purchased tables that are 4 inches taller than the upper floor in the sunken living room. The tables being higher than the floor looks awkward. Is this a design no-no? Help please.

I have used Sherwin Williams Passive in my great room and kitchen and was considering using Cityscape in my formal living room and dining rooms but it looks too dark. I have beautiful white columns and trim so what is your view or should I go with
