Joi collected the plates over time from big box stores, antique shops and thrift stores. When it came time to hang them, she took a picture on the floor of the plates in a rough layout, used "invisible" hangers that adhere to the back of the plates and referred back to the photo as she hung them up.

Mom wants a plate rail above cabinets
Like the display of baskets, and plates above.
Arlene wasn't shy in using vertical space in the kitchen to display her collection of baskets, pots and pans, and decorative plates. The antique scale is one of her favorite collected pieces. In the future, Arlene wants to remodel the kitchen by painting the cabinets a mossy green color and adding granite

I love the use of the plates
Using textured plates really, really adds to a plate display on the wall. This is a great example. I have lots of cool textured plates in my online boutique: http://www.decorativedishes.net/majolica-textured-solid-decorative-dishes-plates/?sort=pricedesc

What did you use to hang the plates?
I always feel like my traditional hangers scratch the rims of the plate and they never hang as flat as yours do in the pic. Any suggestions on how to hand them? Love your mix of plates.
Thanks TriciaJo, I used just standard plate hangers in various sizes that I purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond and used OOK picture hooks to hang. I've never had a problem with scratching the rims. Perhaps you could put a dab of clear nail polish on the ends of the plate hangers so the metal doesn't come in
in direct contact with your plates? Not sure if it would work but it might be your solution. Good luck! Regards, Patty

I have a lot of plates and platters that were my mom's and grandmother's. I've often thought about displaying them on my wall so that they can be decorative and accessible as serving pieces. How did you hang these plates? Just regular plate holders? Glue? Thanks!
Could someone please share the information about how the plates were attached to the wall. I have a large majolica collection I would like to hang and do not want to use the spring type hangers. Thanks!

The plates cut out to a square
Love that the plates have been cut to make a rectangular installation. Fun twist!
I love the idea of cutting the plates.
