appropriate architectural term to describe the seat windows on each side of the fireplace?
This is the exact design goal I had in mind for my dull livingroom! I notice they are not "bay" windows (3 sides), but look like a small addition with a large window with shelves on both sides with seating and storage
storage below. I currently have a fireplace flanked by flat walls with windows on each side. I would like to "bump out" the windows on each side (flanking the exterior chimney) to accommodate this exact design. Beyond sharing this picture, how do I correctly describe this request to an architect? Thank
Can you please tell me the size of the wall with the window seats and fireplace on it?

I too was wondering where I might purchase a similar window. I have a 1030's bunglow story and 1/2 and plan to try and redo the attic. Right now it has a small window with 4 panels which match the lower window.,
These windows are original to this Victorian house.

Nanawall is a well-known brand for bifold windows and doors. Many other manufacturers are starting to provide bifolds as well. This one in particular was a custom size we had made by Loewen. http://www

Is it safe to have window so close to cooktop? I would love to have my cooktop on the window wall.
It would be great to open the window while or after cooking to let th smoke out. Can these windows be opened? Would the window frame and window glass be safe at this close to cooktop

Have you designed kitchens before with this placement? I think it would be a joy to be cooking in front of those windows - it would be like grilling outside everyday. Great idea!
Hi. Was there any regulation related to installing windows directly above a gas stove top?
to having the range in front of a window (mostly around distance to combustible material). We are having to replace the window behind the exhaust... (We opted for a simple picture window - can't open/close it, but I'm still very pleased to be looking out the window while cooking.)
