I love the wallpapers from De Gournay and Gracie but i do not want to break the bank to buy it. Does anyone know a company who makes less expensive chinoiserie wallpapers? Thank You!
Both pictures are De Gournay

When we had our design shop in Charleston, SC, we offered these from Paul Mongomery. We had books with patterns from which to choose, then you select the colors you like. They were hand painted on silk from China..custom..but much lower in price than Gracie and De Gournay. You must also consider the cost to hang by a REALLY professional installer. Here is a link to his website.

Or look at Chinoiserie wallpaper from people like Thibaut, Schumacher, Scalamandre, etc.

Something like this from Thibaut http://www.thibautdesign.com/collection/old_collection.php?patternID=782&productID=4384

A beautiful Chinese toile would also be beautiful. Say, in a red on cream color then paint your ceiling the red...smashing.

As an installer the stock these are printed on is very high quality and aids in the installation of the wallpaper.

You could also consider the services of a decorative painter or artist. Speaking from experience, fees are usually less than the wall covering + installation and you'll be left with an original "piece" of art in your home.

In general, the fewer colors in the wallpaper, the cheaper it is to manufacture.
