Hi mrshollyc817, this photo reminds me of what could be done with your room through the use of plantation shutters on the windows.

I am really partial to what I did to my room. I hung two scarves that were sentimental gifts to me when I visited Kurdistan. If I were you, I would want a sentimental focal pice, and maybe some Roman shades in the window to make a clean look.

I would buy another pair of curtains to match the others in the bedroom and hang one panel on each window with an ornate rod as is done in this photo:

Then definitely something over your bed. A pair of pictures similar to what Dytecture showed, but with a third element centered above them to accent your ceiling.
You've got such beautiful rich furnishings, that a chandelier would be beautiful in your bedroom as well.

Hi mrshollyc817, I completely agree with creeser. It would look very soft and elegant and make the wall a lovely focal point. You could still add plantation shutters or wood blinds under the drapes as Dytecture suggested if you want to. Go for it!

Hi MrsHolly -- It doesn't have to be white, but I borrowed the color from your bedding to show how you could drape the entire wall behind the bed. If you like this look, you can do it as is, or as three rods with the section over the bed going higher, again to the ceiling line, or as is with one large "something special" in that upper triangle, such as a clock, old weathervane, faux animal head...

I also see that you bought the set of this handsome furniture. You may want to try your nightstands in another room, as end tables in the LR perhaps, and try something lighter here -- mirrored, glass, or glass topped fabric round.

Tip -- when I do this treatment behind a tall headboard, I'm able to take a bunch of yardage that you wouldn't otherwise see for accent pillows, etc. I'd encourage you to find a pattern for either your bedding or the drapes, then mix them up around the room.
