Could you tell me the depth of the Ipe wood? Is it 7/8, 1", or 5/4?

Hi, it's net 3/4" material, though I would recommend the 1-1/4" material.

Thank you, trying to decide on my own deck that I am building in the Lake Tahoe area. Your deck inspired me to go with Ipe over a PVC deck.

    Good advice from Mark English...
Although I've not used Ipe for decking, we've worked extensively with it as flooring, and it's a VERY temperamental specie, and due to the varying conditions in the Tahoe region... heftier will be better as far as stability over the long haul.

    Hi lisaafleshier,

For the region you are building it in, it's best if you go with thicker product. Like Mark and Select Hardwood Floor stated, the heftier the better. But, naturally as thickness goes up so does price. The 5/4" material (net finished 1") will work great in your area and it spans 24" on center from joist to joist. Thicker 2" material (net finished 1-1/2") will be far more expensive.

We're glad you chose Ipe over PVC, and hope this bit of information helps you in your construction lisaafleisher.

Not only does the price go up... so does the weight.
    Yikes that stuff is HEAVY!
