Need help with my boys' bedroom (ages 7 & 9)

Hi there, I sure could use your help rearranging the furniture in my boys bedroom and would welcome any decor suggestions. Bed size is twin XL so we are tight in this room. For safety reasons, I can't have any beds against the window either since this bedroom is not at ground level. Thanks in advance!

Both beds need headboards. Also put a nice, big night stand between the beds with a lamp. Some artwork above the beds, new paint color. Otherwise it is a good start what you have now.

I think that adding maybe some sport memorabilia or some modern wall art would help! Maybe also get a black lamp or something to brighten the room!

Look at Ikea for storage pieces. The wall starting at the far end of the dresser and go up to the ceiling and bring it past the end of the chest to as near the door as you can and still have entry space. Have the lower portion be 2 desk areas (separated) with shelves and cubbies above. Use a low dresser (for drawer space) for the night stand. Hang a tall matching shelving unit above it onto the wall. Above each bed let the boys choose items they would like to see on "their" wall. You could make them each large bulletin boards and paint the cork surface the wall color, make these as tall as possible and the width of the bed. Let them attach whatever they want onto it. Make a large frame around each one made from "chair rail" molding from a Lowes or Home Depot. Instant headboard and personalized that can change as they do.

What do they want? They are old enough to have opinions. I would start there.

Matching bedding would make the room look neater.
